Customer Story: Trinidad and Tobago National Election

Campaigns & Politics Success Stories

Posted by Emma Gibbens

The People's National Movement in Trinidad and Tobago won the National Election on September 7th, 2015.They ran a tough campaign against the incumbent party, the United National Congress. One of the big PNM strategies was to engage voters in a dialogue about crime, corruption, and economy. They wanted to energize and mobilize voters to the polls through an integrated digital medal and field campaign. Vestige Strategies, a political strategy consulting firm, was able to deliver that vision and process through NationBuilder and Organizer.

The PNM needed to organize, inform, and deploy canvassers to win 8 marginal constituencies. They had a forward thinking vision to use technology to create a modern, more effective campaign than in years past. Using the Organizer and NationBuilder integration, the PNM was able to easily edit their voter contact information directly into the database and instantly start engaging supporters online through social media mapping. In order to build capacity, we trained over 750 canvassers and 75 campaign managers and staff for the individual constituencies. Organizer was deployed and successfully adopted in 4 constituencies and knocked on over 15,500 doors using the app.

As a result of these efforts, the People's National Movement and now Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley were successful with a 23 seat majority out of the total 41 constituencies. Election Day turnout increased by about 12,500 people which was a huge success in mobilizing supporters and streamlined Get Out The Vote execution on Election Day.
